Introduction

The COVID-19 pandemic has heightened global awareness of health and hygiene, leading to an increased focus on safety and comfort. In response, the textile and apparel industry is incorporating smart technologies and antimicrobial fabrics, such as graphene-treated cotton. Trends include using thermochromic and photochromic pigments to create stylish and smart apparel. Sensor technology is being integrated into children's apparel for safety and physiological considerations.

The brief

How might we infuse a sense of creativity into the design process to enhance the aesthetic appeal and hygiene standards of children's garments, addressing the elevated health and safety concerns posed by the COVID-19 pandemic?

Solution

The present study aims at introducing trendy designs by experimenting with thermochromic and photochromic pigments on graphene based antimicrobial cotton fabrics in order to enhance their aesthetic and hygiene value of the garments produced and for designing apparel in a manner that can be adapted to suit different settings and tasks of kids.
